In the past, this site was about Somerset Rural Renaissance projects. I have chosen to keep the site alive by adding some interseting information about rural development as was previously published on the site.
Somerset Rural Renaissance was an investment programme to help re-vitalise the rural economy in the county of Somerset. Funds were provided by the South West Regional Development Agency and allocated by the Somerset Rural Renaissance Partnership. The Somerset Rural Renaissance Partnership came together in 2004 and consisted of over 20 agencies with an interest in helping to revitalize rural areas. The independent Chair of the Partnership has been Rupert Cox (2005/06) & (2007/08) and Mike Lewis (2006/07).
Somerset Rural Renaissance Scheme was overseen by a partnership of agencies and is administered by Somerset County Council as the accountable body.
Somerset County Council’s Rural Delivery Team had provided the staff to assist a range of public, private, and voluntary sector agencies both to develop and deliver suitable projects and to manage the investments provided to local projects and initiatives.
Rural Renaissance projects and programmes were aimed at benefiting and uplifting rural businesses, communities and people.
Below you will seek some material regarding the Somerset Rural Renaissance, the projects and programmes accomplished as well as how the projects benefited the rural people, and so on…
